About the role

This role sits within Group Corporate Services, supporting the internal services that help the organisation operate effectively. As part of the Engagement Finance Champions team, you will develop your understanding of the business and its finance processes while providing practical support across a varied workload. The team currently works in a hybrid way, with colleagues required to work from either the Birmingham or Leeds office twice a week, usually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; these arrangements may change.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Manage finance process and administration queries that sit outside the scope of other finance support teams, using the workflow management system to track each query through to resolution.
  • Review revenue reporting to identify risks and billing opportunities, following up with the relevant stakeholders where action is needed.
  • Coordinate discussions with engagement partners and engagement managers to progress billing and revenue actions.
  • Support consistent use of finance processes and policies, escalating exceptions or non-compliance when appropriate.
  • Help colleagues understand relevant finance processes by providing clear guidance and supporting education activity.
  • Champion finance and Group Corporate Services change programmes, including automation, self-service and standardisation initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate team knowledge bases and process documentation so information remains useful and current.
  • Take ownership of personal delivery and identify opportunities to improve ways of working and develop your capability.

Experience and skills needed

  • Experience in a customer service or finance role, with evidence of responding to queries and supporting stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder management skills, including experience of communicating with people who have different priorities and levels of finance knowledge.
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with evidence of managing a varied workload and seeing actions through to completion.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, used to explain information, follow up actions and maintain accurate records.
  • Attention to detail and numeracy, with confidence reviewing financial information and identifying issues that need follow-up.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach, with evidence of working constructively when priorities are demanding or change.
