The Group Head of Treasury role is responsible for leading the firm’s treasury function, ensuring KPMG has the funding, liquidity, cash visibility and treasury governance required to support its strategic plans.

This is a broad finance leadership role combining treasury operations, modelling and forecasting, banking relationships, financial risk management and senior stakeholder reporting. The role is not limited to candidates from a traditional treasury background and may suit a senior finance professional from Audit, Advisory, Corporate Finance, Financial Modelling or Commercial Finance with strong accounting judgement, modelling capability and the ability to improve long-term forecasting and liquidity insight for the firm. The role will have Group-level responsibilities including consolidating treasury outputs across both UK & CH jurisdictions, while building and maintaining strong relationships with external banking partners and advisers to support funding requirements, liquidity management and broader treasury objectives.

The successful candidate will work closely with an experienced Treasury team and senior Finance stakeholders to strengthen treasury strategy, enhance cash flow forecasting, support funding decisions and improve the quality of treasury insight available to leadership and governance forums. The role will also act as a key external representative for Treasury, developing trusted relationships with banking partners and leveraging those relationships to support financing activities, optimise banking arrangements and provide strategic insight on market developments.

The Job Description:

The Group Head of Treasury plays a critical role in supporting the financial resilience and strategic decision-making of the firm.

This role combines leadership of the Treasury function with a strong focus on improving the quality of cash flow forecasting, liquidity insight and treasury reporting. Working with an experienced Treasury team, senior Finance stakeholders, auditors and banking partners, the successful candidate will help ensure the firm has the right funding visibility, cash discipline and financial insight to support its short, medium and long-term plans.

This opportunity would suit a senior finance professional with strong accounting judgement, modelling capability and commercial awareness. Prior treasury experience would be valuable, but the role is also open to candidates from Audit, Advisory, Corporate Finance, Financial Reporting or Commercial Finance who can bring strong financial analysis, forecasting and leadership capability to the function.

Description of the role:

Lead the Treasury function, setting direction across treasury operations, cash management, liquidity planning, banking relationships, treasury reporting and financial risk management.

Develop and maintain treasury strategy and policy, ensuring the firm has sufficient funding and liquidity to support short, medium and long-term strategic plans.

Lead the review and improvement of cash flow forecasting, with a particular focus on strengthening long-term forecasting models, assumptions, scenario analysis and decision-useful insight.

Oversee cash flow forecasting across the firm, taking account of borrowing needs, investment requirements, liquidity headroom and working capital expectations.

Support the firm’s approach to capital structure, funding options and liquidity management, ensuring decisions balance resilience, flexibility, risk and cost.

Work closely with banking partners to maintain strong relationships, support facility management and contribute to refinancing or funding discussions where required.

Lead cash flow stress testing and scenario analysis, supporting discussions with senior Finance stakeholders, auditors and governance forums.

Oversee treasury risk management, including liquidity risk, operational treasury risk, covenant compliance, banking controls and foreign exchange considerations considering Group consolidation.

Ensure accurate and timely treasury reporting for Finance leadership and relevant governance forums, including treasury matters relating to liquidity, funding, risk and cash performance.

Oversee key operational treasury activities, including cash balances, cash controls, cash pooling, investments, bank mandates, KYC updates and bank account governance.

Partner with teams across Group Finance to improve visibility of cash requirements, working capital trends and the cash impact of business decisions for UK & CH.

Lead improvements to treasury processes, reporting, controls and ways of working, drawing on the expertise of the Treasury team and wider Finance colleagues.

Role dimensions:

Leadership & Management:

The role leads the Treasury function and provides direction across treasury strategy, operations, forecasting, risk and governance. The role will work with an experienced Treasury team and will be expected to provide clear leadership, challenge and prioritisation rather than personally execute every technical treasury activity.

The role also provides treasury guidance across the wider Finance function and Group jurisdiction (UK & CH), helping colleagues understand the cash, liquidity, funding and risk implications of business decisions.

Stakeholder Interaction & challenges:

The role works regularly with senior stakeholders across Finance, Financial Reporting, FP&A, Commercial Finance, Working Capital, UK & CH firms, auditors, banking partners and governance forums.

The role requires the ability to explain treasury matters clearly to both treasury and non-treasury stakeholders, translating liquidity, cash flow, funding and risk information into practical insight. A key challenge will be improving long-term forecasting, modelling and scenario planning in a way that supports better senior decision-making.

The role must balance operational treasury delivery with broader strategic priorities, including funding resilience, liquidity planning, Group consolidation, working capital visibility, banking relationships and control requirements.

Impact, Risk, Accountability & Governance:

The Group Head of Treasury role has significant impact on the firm’s financial resilience, liquidity position, funding visibility and ability to support strategic plans across the Group.

The role is accountable for ensuring treasury activities are well controlled, cash and liquidity risks are understood, funding requirements are visible and treasury reporting supports effective governance. It also plays a key role in improving the quality of cash flow forecasting and scenario analysis used by senior stakeholders.

The role influences firm-wide decisions relating to liquidity, funding, cash management, working capital and financial risk.

The Person:

Essential experience

Technical skills:

Strong senior finance experience gained in Treasury, Audit, Advisory, Corporate Finance, Financial Reporting, Commercial Finance or a related finance leadership role.

Strong accounting and financial judgement, with the ability to understand the relationship between cash, capital, liquidity, funding and financial reporting.

Excellent financial modelling capability, with experience building, reviewing or improving forecasting models, assumptions and scenario analysis.

Experience producing financial insight for senior stakeholders, including clear analysis, recommendations and decision-support materials.

Understanding of cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, working capital, governance and financial risk management.

Ability to quickly build credibility in treasury matters, working with an experienced Treasury team to understand operational processes, controls and technical requirements.

Experience working with senior stakeholders, auditors or governance forums on complex financial matters.

Understanding of treasury operations, banking relationships, funding facilities, covenant reporting, bank account governance or foreign exchange risk would be beneficial, but deep technical treasury experience is not essential.

Financial professional qualification required, such as ACA, ACCA, ACT, CIMA or equivalent.

Non-technical skills:

Strategic and commercial mindset, with the ability to connect treasury and cash insight to wider firm priorities.

Strong analytical capability and confidence working with complex financial information.

Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.

Clear communicator, able to explain technical or complex financial issues to non-specialist audiences.

Strong judgement and confidence operating in sensitive, high-impact financial discussions.
