About the team

Our Advisory capability brings our Consulting and Deal Advisory businesses together as one team, combining our expertise and talent. We solve business challenges, helping our clients to realise their growth ambitions, from strategy to transaction and through to transformation.

The mission of Technology and Data (T&D) is to create a future where our clients thrive, our business grows, and our people flourish.

By using our multidisciplinary technical teams, Technology and Data collaborates across Advisory to build integrated solutions and bring end to end propositions to our clients, creating value through technology. We support clients across a wide range of challenges within a transformation lifecycle - from setting their strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, through to transformative implementation.

The Technology in M&A team is growing and dynamic. We work across technology strategy, digital, applications, AI, value creation, infrastructure, cloud, operating models, data, cyber, robotic process automation (RPA), post-deal implementation and technology spend. Our work spans sectors and supports both acquirers and vendors throughout the deal lifecycle.

About the role

You’ll lead small to medium-sized engagements and act as a day-to-day contact for clients. Working across buy-side and sell-side due diligence, integrations, separations, initial public offerings (IPOs), joint ventures (JVs), synergy programmes and business stand-ups, you’ll translate complex technology findings into clear commercial implications and practical action. You’ll also contribute to practice development, proposals and new propositions when you are not delivering client work.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead small to medium-sized engagements, coordinate day-to-day delivery and build trusted relationships with client and internal stakeholders.

  • Contribute to and review technology due diligence reports, turning detailed findings into clear insights for decision-makers.

  • Analyse technology costs, products, systems, contracts and data to assess the current landscape and its implications for the transaction.

  • Explain how technology affects business strategy, operations and deal valuation, presenting complex issues in an accessible and commercially relevant way.

  • Identify technology-enabled value creation opportunities, including cost optimisation, scalability improvements, AI and automation, synergies and investment needs.

  • Use technology benchmarks and qualitative evidence to assess the maturity and effectiveness of technology functions.

  • Lead technology workstreams for integrations and separations, including target operating models, transitional service agreements, detailed plans and implementation support.

  • Facilitate client workshops and meetings, supporting workstream leads to define objectives, resolve issues and maintain momentum.

  • Lead the planning and delivery of technology value creation through synergy delivery, operating model optimisation, AI-enabled efficiencies and benefits tracking.

  • Maintain engagement management, quality and risk protocols, while supporting proposals, proposition development and new revenue opportunities across the practice.

Skills, knowledge and experience you’ll need

  • A comprehensive and current understanding of technology and mergers and acquisitions (M&A), with experience working in a deals environment across the transaction lifecycle.

  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to connect technology findings to value, risk, investment and deal outcomes.

  • Experience leading engagements or workstreams, managing stakeholders and delivering high-quality outputs in fluid, ambiguous and highly pressured consulting situations.

  • Confidence leading and facilitating client meetings, workshops and interviews, including interactions with senior client stakeholders, Partners and Directors.

  • A strong understanding of AI and generative AI use cases in technology, M&A or consulting, and the ability to apply AI tools responsibly to improve analysis, insight generation and delivery efficiency.

  • Relevant depth in one or more technology areas, such as technology strategy, applications, enterprise resource planning (ERP), infrastructure, data, AI, cloud, architecture or cyber security; experience assessing AI data readiness, governance, risks or commercial impact is particularly valuable.

  • Experience of programme management or working in blended teams of colleagues and client staff is welcome, alongside a willingness to travel when required.
